Alison and Tyler’s summer Charleston elopement is a charming, intimate affair. The couple decided on a destination Charleston elopement because they love the historic features of the Holy City along with the well-known Southern beauty of the outdoors. After visiting the city for a few days, Alison and Tyler decided to elope at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. This Charleston site dates back to 1850. Along with a historic house in the center of the grounds, the gardens boast of features such as plush azaleas and over 500 camellias planted. Planting various types of flora means there is almost always something in bloom regardless of the season.
Alison and Tyler’s June Charleston elopement ceremony on the Long White Bridge Lawn overlooks the 180 year old bridge and waterway. Alison’s whimsical bridal look with her off-the-shoulders gown and braided up-do is a site to remember. Tyler looks no less dashing in his light gray suit, perfect for the warm season. After exchanging vows, the couple shared their first kiss and wife and husband!
After the ceremony, we wandered around the 1872 acre grounds for the most lovely spots for their portraits. Along with classic backdrops that Magnolia is known for, I always tell couples we chase the light. This is because wherever there is beautiful light we can easily make stunning portraits. I’m also known to get couples moving whether that’s a simple hand-in-hand stroll, a romantic lift, or a timeless dip. Facilitating action produces natural reactions of laughter, smiles, and stolen kisses – all of which are ideal for wedding photos.
